Spirituality and Motherhood

Spirituality and Motherhood

Albert Einstein quote, "The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious – the fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and true science...". This quote holds true to my existence.

I have to admit that I am not a deeply spiritual person, it is a gift that I am yet to be completely blessed with. Having said that - the deepest and most  meaningful experience of my life has been the birth of my child.

From conceiving to the final act of birthing gave me a new perspective on the meaning of my raison d'être. It is perhaps this connection that I have with my daughter Sofia (whose name incidentally means divine wisdom), that is my 'spiritual awakening'.

This physical, emotional, mental and intangible arouse and connect the mysterious with the spiritual leading to an incredible effect on a woman, should she choose to go down the path. Women become more sensitive to themselves and to what is happening in their bodies and outside; they notice changes, and become more reflective and observant.

For me it was a time of quiet reflection on the possible meanings of the new life, faith and the future.
